Our beekeepers club has a diverse range of people who are interested in all aspects of beekeeping - we have members throughout the Waikato region.
We are currently working hard on an AFB Eradication Programme. To find out more go to bit.ly/wdbaAFBFree.
Monthly meetings are held for members to exchange ideas and learn from a variety of speakers.
Other activities, including field days, are held to assist members learn more about beekeeping and the successful management of their hives. In addition, a monthly newsletter keeps everyone up-to-date.
The club welcomes new members, young and old, those new to beekeeping, or experienced hands.
If you are interested in beekeeping, or want to get to know other local beekeepers, and wish to come along to a meeting please see our events page.
You don't need to have a hive to come along!
Regular club meetings and hive days are set to resume in June 2020. We are planning to hold a club meeting on 18th June 2020 at 7:30pm at the Cosmopolitan Club. The committee is coordinating with the venue manager to make sure we can do this within the prevailing guidelines. At the time of writing this notice (31st May) things are looking good. If there are any changes they will be posted on the website and on the club's Facebook page. Please note that there will NOT be a honey competition this year for obvious health and safety reasons. Hive days should also be able to resume from 20th June 2020.
Annual General Meeting
The AGM is now planned for 16th July 2020 at 7:30pm at the Cosmopolitan Club. It would be good to start thinking about perhaps offering to serve on the committee this year. The nomination forms will be available in June. Getting elected is the first step, then it’s just a matter of committing a small amount of time each month to help with the running of the club. It’s not hard and it can be fun, interesting and satisfying. There are nine committee members so only a modest commitment is needed from each person.
